FAQ

1. What is Culturyst?

Culturyst is a monthly subscription service that makes it easy to explore the Seattle arts scene without you having to do any homework or planning.  Each month, we will choose an arts event for you, buy you the tickets and provide you with the Inside Scoop, which contains restaurant and bar recommendations and information about the arts event so you can enjoy like an insider.  We also publish a newsletter that gives you the scoop on the best arts events.

2. What types of arts events will be included in my subscription?

We select events from a range of cultural categories, including theater, dance, music and visual art, and we try to vary the type of event each month.  We also aim to include organizations of various sizes to help you experience the breadth of offerings in the Seattle arts scene.  Example organizations include Pacific Northwest Ballet and The 5th Avenue Theatre, and also smaller organizations like Washington Ensemble Theatre and On The Boards.  All events will be located in Seattle.

3. When will I find out what arts event you have chosen each month?

We will send you an announcement email at least 30 days before the event (with the exception of your first month, which depends on your sign-up date).  The email will also contain available dates and instructions on how to choose the date you want. Please make sure to add “carrie@culturyst.com” to your address book to avoid having these emails filtered as spam.

4. How many dates will I have to choose from?

We will always give you at least 2 dates to choose from, and will offer you even more where possible!  If we don’t hear from you by the deadline we provide you for each event, we will default you to the date specified in the announcement email.

5.  What if I can’t attend on any of the available dates?

If you can’t attend on any of the available dates, choose “None” when you are prompted to choose your dates.  We will do our best to find an alternative to meet your needs.

6. Where do I pick up my tickets?

Your tickets will be available at the venue’s box office under your name.  If there is a different arrangement for a particular show, we will let you know.

7. Can I pick my own seats?

In order to provide you with the best access and prices available, the venue selects availability.  However, no seats will have restricted views.  For venues with general admission seating, seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

8. What if I want to cancel my subscription?

We think you’ll love Culturyst and wonder how you ever lived without it, but we know you might have questions!  That’s why we let you give Culturyst a try risk-free: if you decide you want to cancel for any reason within 30 days after your date of initial purchase (even if you already attended your first event), you can cancel your subscription and get a full refund. After the first 30 days, you can cancel your subscription at any time, which means we will cancel the next automatic renewal of your subscription. You’ll still be able to use Culturyst through the end of the 3-month term that you’ve already paid for. Please see our Cancellation Policy on how to request a refund.

9. Are the events you choose suitable for families with children?

At this point, we cannot guarantee that all the shows will be suitable for children, but we are always looking to expand our offerings. If you are interested in family-friendly events, please Contact Us to let us know.

10. I purchased a Culturyst subscription, but now live arts events have been cancelled due to COVID-19. What happens now?

Thanks for subscribing! Your subscription has been put on pause until we are able to attend arts events again.  We will contact you when we are ready to restart. In the meanwhile, check out our suggestions on how to remain engaged with the Seattle arts community while we’re on this extended intermission.
